19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour championship, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
